Lela Bales, an outside hitter hailing from Southeast Warren High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for the Southwestern Community College Spartans beginning with their 2019 run.

Bales was a first-team all-conference hitter, unanimous choice, her junior and senior years. In addition to volleyball, she competed in track during high school and was a 2017 800-meter state track qualifier.

Southwestern Head Coach Casey Quiggle said Bales works hard in volleyball and in life.

"Lela is very athletic and is extremely driven both on and off the court," Quiggle said. "She plays solid defense and passes well."

She is the daughter of Richard and Amanda Bales of Lacona.
