Southeast Warren setter to play Spartan volleyball

Southeast Warren setter Taylor Clendenen has made it official. She will play volleyball for the Spartans of Southwestern Community College following high school graduation in May 2019.

Clendenen, who stands at 5 feet, 7 inches, has been a Pride of Iowa All-Conference second-team selection for one year, a Pride of Iowa All-Conference first-team selection for two years, and an all-district volleyball selection for two years. In addition to volleyball, Clendenen has lettered in basketball and softball for four years and track for one year. She was named a Pride of Iowa second-team selection for two years in softball.

In addition to her athletic honors, Clendenen has been a Pride of Iowa Academic All-Conference selection in basketball, softball and volleyball for three years. She has been an academic award winner earning the White Academic Letter for two years.

Head Coach Casey Quiggle looks forward to Clendenen starting her collegiate career at Southwestern.

"Taylor is a nice addition to our volleyball program and will do well for us as a setter," Quiggle stated. "She has a high volleyball IQ and is well-rounded in setting and moving the ball around."

Clendenen is the daughter of Pete and Jodi Clendenen of Milo. Jodi, formerly Jodi Burrell, is a former Spartan volleyball student-athlete as well and played under the direction of longtime Southwestern volleyball coach Rita Schroeder, who left a volleyball legacy at Southwestern and is a member of the college's Athletic Hall of Fame.
