CRESTON, Iowa—After a year away from athletics, Zoie Lecy, a 2018 graduate of Murray High School, will be back on the court playing volleyball for the Spartans of Southwestern Community College during their fall 2019 season.

Lecy, a 5-foot, 7-inch outside hitter, received best server of the year and most valuable player honors at Murray High School in 2016 and 2017. In addition to athletics, she was on the high honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society.

Southwestern Head Volleyball Coach Casey Quiggle said Lecy will be a nice addition to his volleyball team.

“Zoie works hard and wants to help the team in whatever way possible,” Quiggle said. “Her work ethic is contagious and her teammates will benefit from her quiet leadership.”

Lecy is a pre-nursing student at Southwestern during the 2018-19 academic year. Next year, 2019-20, she will move into Southwestern’s licensed practical nursing program, finishing with the registered nursing program the following year.

She is the daughter of Galen and Shannon Lecy of Grand River.
