Volleyball Sees Improvement in First Scrimmage

The Spartan volleyball team has been on campus, practicing since August 2nd and were due for some outside competition. Head coach, Shaela Camp, and assistant, Nicole Kucza, took the 17-person roster out West to Peru, Nebraska to scrimmage the Peru State Bobcats. The Spartans were led be sophomore, Emma Hanson, and freshman, Samira Baade. According to Coach Camp, "[Baade] came out with great leadership skills and kept a positive attitude and [Hanson] played extremely well and lead with confidence."

"This weekend's scrimmage was a great opener, showing us what we do well and what we can still improve on," says Coach Camp. "I was proud of my freshman for stepping up and my sophomores for showing our freshman how to handle pressure."

The 17-lady roster consists of local talent, and distant talent, reaching all corners of the state and the globe.

The Spartans kick-off their season this Friday, August 20th at the Central Kickoff Classic in Columbus, Nebraska. The Spartans will be at home on Wednesday, September 1 in the first of a grueling Iowa Community College Athletic Conference schedule.
