Volleyball Faces Tough Challenge Against Cloud County Community College

Columbus, NE: In a demanding match, Southwestern Community College's volleyball team clashed with Cloud County Community College, ultimately facing a 3-0 loss. The game highlighted key performances and player resilience on both sides.

Ultimately, Cloud County Community College demonstrated their prowess with scores of 25-20, 25-10, and 25-14 in the three sets, securing a victory against Southwestern Community College.

Gréta Petőfi's presence was felt with 3 blocks and 4 kills. Emily Strait showcased her defensive skills, leading the game with 17 digs. Beatriz Goncalves displayed her versatility with 5 kills and 8 digs.

Coach Taylor remarked, "We played a lot faster-paced game, kept up the communication and worked to eliminate errors which was evident in the score for the first set. Things took a turn for the worse in the second set when Leonie Kettner went down with an ankle injury. We made adjustments to our lineup to finish out the game. The girls did a great job keeping up the communication when running a rotation we had not practiced before."

Beatriz Goncalves shared her perspective on the game, stating, "We started the game against Cloud County excited and trying to have fun, touching every ball and swinging aggressively. On the second set, we had to make a change with Leonie's injury, but it was hard losing a teammate, and we tried our best to battle back. In the third set, we tried to get a win, but Cloud County was playing better and they secured the game."

Gréta Petőfi expressed enthusiasm for the season despite the challenges, saying, "Our game against Cloud County was our second game of the day, but we started off with great energy that we could maintain for the rest of the game. We had some difficulties getting around the block, but we did a great job with our defense and covering our hitters. We are going to continue working hard, and I'm very excited for this season."

Although the outcome favored Cloud County, Southwestern Community College demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the match. The team will use this experience as a stepping stone for their future matches.
