Parker Evans of Lamar, MO, has been named the Southwestern Community College assistant volleyball coach for the Spartans 2023 volleyball season.

Evans will assist second-year Head Southwestern Volleyball Coach Taylor Shipley. She played for Shipley and the Spartans during her time as a student at Southwestern. While a Spartan, Evans was ranked fourth in the nation for digs per set and 11th in the nation in digs overall before suffering a season-ending injury. She was an honorable mention all-conference selection during the fall 2022 season.

“Parker will be a great asset for our volleyball program,” stated Shipley. “She connects with our student-athletes and as a former Spartan herself, will aide tremendously with recruitment.”

Evans holds 10 years of volleyball experience, five years of club volleyball experience, and two years of college playing experience. She coached junior high volleyball for two years and private lessons for two years.

In addition to coaching, Evans is a universal banker at First National Bank in Creston. She earned an Associate of Science degree from Southwestern in May 2023. She is a May 2021 graduate of Lamar High School in Lamar, Missouri.

She will begin her coaching duties immediately.
