Southwestern Community College (SWCC) is excited to announce the signing of Sophie Rahe, a talented libero/defensive specialist from George Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the Spartan volleyball program for the 2025 season.
Rahe brings a strong defensive presence and competitive experience to the Spartans. During her high school career, she amassed an impressive 530 career digs and earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors as a junior. Additionally, she honed her skills with premier club programs CR Starlings and CR Surge, coached by Nikki Herman and Rick Blackwell.
When asked why she chose SWCC, Rahe said, "I picked SWCC because I clicked so well with the team and coaches."
Head Coach Brianna Maitlen expressed her excitement about the newest addition to the team: "We're thrilled to welcome Sophie to the Spartan family. Her defensive skill set, work ethic, and passion for the game align perfectly with the values of our program. I can't wait to see her contribute to our success."
Rahe, supported by her parents Lindsay Carey and Troy Rahe, is a valuable addition to the Spartan volleyball program, both on and off the court.
The Spartans are proud to welcome Sophie Rahe to Spartan Nation and look forward to watching her grow and thrive in the coming seasons.
Welcome to the Spartan family, Sophie!
