Cayla Maitlen joined the Southwestern Community College volleyball program as assistant coach in June 2024.

Cayla, who also works as an elementary teacher in the Creston Community School District, rounds out the coaching staff with her sister Brianna Maitlen.

Prior to joining her sister's coaching staff at SWCC, Cayla gained experience as an AAU volleyball coach and middle school volleyball coach. Cayla coached AAU volleyball from December 2022 until February 2024, and coached middle school volleyball for Creston Community School District from August 2022 through May 2024.

Cayla played volleyball at SWCC from 2018 through 2019, playing in 67 matches for the Spartans. She recorded 233 career kills and 48 service aces to go along with 450 digs.

Cayla graduated from SWCC in May 2019 with an Associate of Arts degree, and graduated from Buena Vista University in December 2022 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
