Nebraska Student-Athlete Signs National Letter of Intent to Run at SWCC

Christina Stopak, of Albion, NE, has signed a National Letter of Intent to run cross country and track at Southwestern Community College starting with the 2017-18 academic year.

Stopak, who will graduate from Boone Central High School in May 2017, is a four-time state cross country qualifier, two-time cross country team state champion, and a two-time cross country state medalist (in 2015 she placed eighth and in 2016 she placed fourth). In addition, Stopak was named to the Nebraska all-state cross country team. She is a two-time state qualifier in track with her events being the 1600m and the 3200m.

Southwestern Head Cross Country and Track Coach Nick Ekel said he is very excited to welcome Stopak to the college's running programs.

"Christina is a dedicated student-athlete who has experienced great success at the high school level," stated Ekel. "I'm anxious to see her transition to and compete at the collegiate level."

She is the daughter of Tim and Jackie Stopak of Albion, NE.
