Cross country camp to be held July 18-20

Greeno-Dirksen Invite

Southwestern Community College is hosting a cross country camp from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, through Thursday, July 20.

The camp is open to runners of all skill and experience levels. Campers will meet at the tennis courts on SWCC's campus, 1501 W. Townline St., in Creston. The cost of the camp is $50 per camper. Checks are payable to SWCC Cross Country. Coaches are also welcome to attend the camp.

Participants in the camp will hear from guest speakers, receive form instruction, and participate in group runs each night. Among the guest speakers will be Josh Baudler, former SWCC cross country runner and former state champion at Nodaway Valley High School. Baudler will talk to campers about training and mindset.

Campers should come dressed to run and bring their own water bottles. Spikes are not necessary for the camp.

"This camp will be a great opportunity for young runners to meet athletes from other teams, as well as learn about different aspects of the sport, from training to nutrition to proper footwear," said Scott Vicker, SWCC director of cross country/track & field.
