44 Spartans Garner National Academic Recognition

Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA has announced the 2020-21 All-Academic Teams, recognizing student-athletes across the country for their dedication in the classroom.  A total of 8,272 student-athletes have been honored for achieving a GPA above 3.60.

"Despite obstacles and adjustments, NJCAA student-athletes rose above challenges to display widespread academic success this year," said Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President & CEO. "It is incredible to see these individuals competing again and accomplishing rich athletic and academic success concurrently, we commend their efforts."

Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2020-21 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:

  • NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA

Spartans that earned NJCAA All-Academic First Team (4.0 GPA) honors: Brielle Baker, Deja Brown, Grace Cotton, Eric Desbois, Thomas Esterhuyse, April Francom, Harrison Galea, Brooke Halterman, Emma Hanson, Maslyn Hummel, Ryan Jarvis, Brylee Kemper, Alyssa Morris, Florence Omodayo, Jenna Parfeniuk, Vernae Ramoth, Victoria Reynolds, Jordan Richards, Trey Rodriguez, Kaitlyn Schad, Madeleine Shwaluk, and Paige Shwaluk.

Spartans that earned NJCAA All-Academic Second Team (3.80-3.99 GPA) honors: Miracle Allen, Hailey Chew, William Courtney, Levi Detrick, MaKenna Hudson, Madison Orewiler, Heylee Shields, and TJ Swaney.

Spartans that earned NJCAA All-Academic Third Team (3.60-3.79 GPA) honors: Christopher Blair, Nyle Buchanan, Reuben Cooper, Abbigail Hood, Allison Lillis, Jordan Redeker, Lachlan Timms, Ethan Brumbaugh, Jacob Ciafullo, Ali Engight, Noah Leist, Emmanuel Nwaneri, Joel Sampson, and Whynter Waterhouse-Brennan.

"I would first like to thank our faculty for the time, energy, and effort they put into our student-athletes," said Athletic Director Nick Weinmeister. "Facing unusual circumstances, our student-athletes did a fantastic job maintaining focus on academics while balancing the rigors of their sport. Each person on this list did a fantastic job."
