On Wednesday afternoon, under beautiful blue skies and warm weather, the Spartans were able to battle DMACC in non-conference baseball play. The Spartans took game one with a score of 7-6 and fell in game two with a score of 13-7.

In discussing the game one victory, Coach Camp was pleased, "The guys showed a lot of energy being able to be out for the home opener. We continue to improve every time we take the field, and ultimately that is what it is all about. We allowed them back into the game late, but were able to dig our heels in and pull out the win." The Spartans were led by Ernies Lozada and his two RBI's.

Game two saw a lot of similar energy and zip from the Spartans. "A bad inning kind of got us in a tough spot, but it was good for some guys to get innings and continue to work on things," says Camp. In the 13-7 loss, the Spartans were highlighted by Ryan Kay going 3/4 with a homerun and two RBI's, and Colby Page going 2/4 with a homerun.

The Spartans look to defend the diamond again this weekend. Former Spartan short-stop, Samuel Vega, brings the Panthers of Ellsworth to Creston on Saturday and Sunday.
