Southwestern Spartan Baseball Displays Strong Performance in Series Against Fort Scott

The Southwestern Spartan baseball team recently completed a four-game series against Fort Scott Community College. Under the guidance of Coach Chris Piperno, the Spartans faced off against a formidable opponent and demonstrated their competitive spirit throughout the series. The Spartans went 1-3 on the weekend, but lost 3 games by a combined 5 runs.

In the first game of the series, the Spartans secured a 3-0 victory, anticipating setting the tone for the weekend. Pitcher Zade Stark delivered an outstanding performance, throwing for 5 innings with only 1 hit allowed and 4 strikeouts. Key offensive contributions came from Brysen Vernon and Brayden Resch, both delivering homeruns to power the Spartan offense.

Game two saw a closely contested matchup, with the Spartans ultimately falling short with a final score of 5-6. Despite the loss, Shammy-Thayne Maximiliana's impressive homerun and 2 RBIs highlighted the team's offensive capabilities.

The third game proved to be another tight battle, with the Spartans narrowly missing out on victory with a final score of 6-7. Zade Stark continued to shine, contributing 2 RBI.
