Southwestern Spartans Compete at Spirit Hollow

The Southwestern Spartans headed to Burlington on Monday, Sept. 18, to compete in the SCC Invitational, held at Spirit Hollow Golf Course. The course, one of the most elite golf courses in Iowa, proved to be tough for the Spartans to conquer.

"We finished third, behind perennial powerhouse William Penn, and national championship qualifier DMACC, that returned its top five from last season," said Spartan Head Coach Doug North. "Third isn't the goal, but it is fall and we beat some quality teams that are in our conference. We need to continue to develop and trend in the right way."

The Spartans were led with a top-five finish from Reinhardt Sounderson. Parker Davidson, DMACC, was victorious individually, with a solid two under par round of 70. William Penn was victorious in the team race.

The Spartan women were short-handed, competing with just two individuals at the SCC Invitational. They were led by Creston native Hayley Osmun, freshman.
