The Southwestern Spartans golf team hosted their second tournament of the 2017-18 season at Mozingo Lake Golf Course in Maryville, MO. The small field led to a sixth-place finish by the Spartan men. The Spartans were led by freshman Reinhardt Saunderson, who tied for a sixth-place finish.

"Reinhardt has really come on the second half of our fall season, demonstrating his leadership ability again by leading the team by 10 strokes," complimented Spartan Head Coach Doug North. "The theme for this fall has been starting and closing. We were five strokes away from a third-place finish and we have to realize we were never out of it."

Hayley Osmun, freshman from Creston, was the lone Spartan woman to compete, as injuries and intense academic loads sidelined a few student-athletes.

"Hayley really had some great holes," commented North. "She is young and going through learning pains. This off-season will do her well. She's going to be a great Spartan!"

Park University swept the podium on Friday with a team win and three of the top-five individual finishers on the men's side. They had the same success on the women's side, taking the top six individual finishes and the team trophy.
