Last week, Mitch Carroll, state qualifying golfer at Stanberry R-II High School in Stanberry, MO, signed a National Letter of Intent to golf with the Spartans at Southwestern Community College starting in August with the fall 2018 semester.

Carroll, who will graduate from Stanberry R-II High School in May 2018, brings a wealth of golf experience with him to Southwestern. He was named all-conference and all-district for golf, and was a state qualifier all four years of high school. He was named all-district for football as well. In addition to his high school athletic honors, Carroll was also named to the honor roll, selected to attend boys' state, and was chosen to be a Veterans Day speaker.

Doug North, Southwestern head golf coach, said Carroll will be a great asset for the Spartan team.

"Mitch will not only bring a hard-working attitude to my golf team, he will bring academic excellence and a give-back attitude to our campus," North explained. "He has been a state qualifier every year of high school, and has received a number of accolades due to his leadership and nose-to-the-grindstone work ethic."

North said he and his assistant, Coach Ryan Palser, are excited about the opportunities Carroll will have at Southwestern.

Carroll is the son of Bryan and Ronda Carroll of Stanberry, MO.
