Ashton Carter, a senior at Creston High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to golf for Southwestern Community College starting with the fall 2018 semester.

Southwestern Head Golf Coach Doug North said Carter will bring a whole new level of competitive golf to his women's team.

"Ashton has had a ton of success at the high school level, having the fourth-best scoring average at the 4A level and having the second-best score in the Hawkeye 10, behind a current University of Nebraska student-athlete," stated North.

During high school, Carter qualified for state golf her sophomore and junior years as an individual and with her team. In 2016, she placed 11th individually and in 2017 she placed seventh. In addition to golf, Carter has lettered in dance, wrestling cheer, and football cheer. Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society.

Carter is the daughter of Rick Carter and Michelle Mostek of Creston.
