Spartans Fall to KCKCC

The Spartan men's basketball team headed to Kansas for game one of the season to take on the Blue Devils of Kansas City Kansas Community College. A nine-point game at the half led to a 87-65 loss for the Spartans. A highlight for the Spartans was transfer, Carson Busch. He led all scorers with 16 on the night and added in 5 rebounds and 2 assists in 22 minutes of action.

Southwestern had 12 players see the floor as they work on solidifying their winning combo. Head Coach Reggie Kindle said, "We need to do a better job of taking care of the basketball. Too many turnovers for us as a team. We shot the ball well from behind the arc, as a team we shot 40 percent."

Spartan scorers were Busch with 16, Khayden Hooks with 11 points, Qushawn Wells with 8 points, AJ Lacabe with 6 points, Devin Tomlinson with 5 points, Brance Baker with 5 points, Collin Sager with 3 points, Isiah Peasley with 3 points, Teon Thomas with 3 points, Kobe Jackson with 3 points, and Demarious Carey with 2 points.

Kindle added, "I'm looking forward to the continued growth from our guys. We will watch practice, watch film and learn from our mistakes."

The Spartans head to their home court in a 7:30 p.m. match-up on Friday with Mount Mercy University.
