Spartan Golf Team Finishes 9th Place Finish at Waterloo Intercollegiate

The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Spartans Golf Team concluded their participation in the Waterloo Intercollegiate with a 9th place finish out of 12 competing teams.

The tournament, held at Waterloo, Iowa, saw the Spartans navigate challenging conditions and six of the teams that will be competing for their district championship. Isac Fredriksson led the Spartans, finishing tied for 20th place. Following him, Charlie McDonald secured the 36th position, with Sofus Lyck finishing 54th. Ethan Badolato and Chase Copeland concluded their rounds in the 60th position. Additionally, playing as an individual, Maddux Weeks secured the 56th position.

Despite some cold and extremely windy conditions, good scores were attainable, but the Spartans failed to capitalize on a familiar golf course.

"Some days you play well, and some not. Let's hope the next time we are on this golf course, we are improved and ready to play," remarked Coach Doug North. "This game isn't about pure skill, it is about managing your bad and capitalizing on your good, we did a poor job of that over 3 rounds."

The Spartans look to learn and build on this event as they will be back in a short time for the NJCAA North Central District Championship will be held here.
