Creston standout track & field athlete Brandon Briley signed a National Letter of Intent to run cross country and track at Southwestern Community College next year.

Briley exceled in three sports for Creston Community High School, playing football and wrestling in addition to being a mainstay in the Panther track lineup the past four years.

"This is an exciting signing for us," said Scott Vicker, director of cross country/track & field. "Brandon has been a big part of Creston's track lineup all four years of high school and has shown some impressive range in the events he can handle. I'm looking forward to helping him transition into cross country. I believe as he starts to add more mileage to his training, he will be a great cross country runner for us."

Briley owns PRs of 52.46 in the 400 meters, 1:58.80 in the 800 meters, 4:32.73 in the 1,600 meters, and 10:10.65 for 3,200 meters. He is a member of Creston's school-record sprint medley relay team.

"In addition to his versatility, I love Brandon's toughness," Vicker said. "That's one of the qualities I think will translate well for him as he picks up cross country. As we build up his aerobic base, I anticipate he will make big improvements in the longer distances quickly."

Brandon is the son of Chad and Treana Briley of Creston.
