OSCEOLA - Southwestern Head Softball Coach Danny Jensen recently announced the addition of Clarke's Astazia Watson to the roster for the 2023-24 season.

Watson, the daughter of Robert and Melissa Watson, recently signed her National Letter of Intent to join the Spartan softball team. She is a 2023 graduate of Clarke Community High School.

At Clarke, Watson was a leader for the team both in the lineup and in the pitching circle. During the 2023 season, Watson led Clarke in batting average (.440), home runs (4), RBI (25), wins (5), strikeouts (52), and innings pitched (108).

"Astazia is a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher," Jensen said. "She has been the starting pitcher for Clarke the past two years. Astazia is an outstanding fielder and a solid hitter with home run power. She is a mutli-sport athlete who brings strong leadership qualities to the Spartans."

Watson has been named Academic All-Conference in the South Central Conference, as well as honorable mention all-conference in 2022, and was Clarke's offensive MVP in 2022.
