Spartans Compete at SDSU Indoor Classic

On Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10 and 11, the Southwestern Spartans track and field team traveled to the 2017 South Dakota State University Indoor Classic in Brookings, SD.  The Spartans continued their 2017 indoor season streak of school record-breaking performances.  Specifically, the record came in the distance medley relay, consisting of a 1200-meter run, 800-meter run, 400-meter dash, and 1600-meter run. The relay of Jalen Two Leggins, Kevin Dietrich, Jeremy Newton, and Caleb Peterson accomplished the new school record.

"We really enjoyed the incredible facilities at South Dakota State University and ran well against some high caliber competition," commented Spartan Interim Head Coach Jordan Strofaci. "We are excited for great weather to train in as we look forward to the regional championships next weekend. Our goal is to finish top three in the region in both the men and women team rankings."

The Spartans next competition is Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17 and 18, at the NJCAA Region XI Indoor Championships hosted by Buena Vista University.
