Spartan Compete at 2017 Buena Vista University Outdoor Invite

On Saturday, April 1, 2017, the Southwestern Spartans traveled to the 2017 BVU Outdoor Invite hosted by Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.  It was a perfect day for track and field with 50-degree overcast skies and no wind.  To highlight the competition, on the women's side, Sisilia Seavula earned a pair of first-place finishes in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, running with times of 12.61 and 25.56 respectively.

Top finishers for the men came from Ronald Henderson, placing second in both the high jump and long jump with leaps of 6'5" and 20'10" respectively.  Tony Klocke earned a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.88.  The 4x100 meter relay team, consisting of Jeremy Newton, Dylan Lucas, Malik McClellon, and Andrew Conover, finished fourth in the competition.  In the end, the men finished sixth of seven teams, tallying 39 points and besting Mount Marty.  The women finished seventh of seven teams earning 20 points.

Next week, on Saturday, April 8, 2017, the Spartans will travel to Lamoni, to compete at the LD Weldon Classic at Graceland University.
