Southwestern students are planning to host a Memorial Vigil on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m., in the Student Center gymnasium, to honor Madalynn (Maddie) Stewart's life, as well as celebrate her accomplishments and friendships as a Spartan. Everyone is invited to attend. The family will be present.

Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr. Open visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 6, from 1-8 p.m., with family present from 5-8 p.m. The funeral will be on Monday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m., at the Mount Ayr High School gymnasium. The college will be closed Monday so employees may attend the funeral.

The Southwestern community holds Maddie's family and friends in our thoughts as they grieve an insurmountable loss. Maddie will be missed by so many. We continue to mourn with the families of the other individuals in the car that night as well. Ella and Halsie, we miss you. And Abigail, keep fighting.
