The Southwestern Women's golf team got the chance to open their season defending their home turf. The small Spartan squad was unable to post a team score, but is excited to compete this fall.
The Spartans were led by Freshman, Caitlin Clark, and her round of 99, which was good enough for a tie for tenth-place. "Both young ladies competed well," says head coach, Doug North. "The early fall season is about overcoming nerves and getting used to college golf. Six of the top-seven scores were ladies at the University level, I'm glad we get a chance to see how they act and respond during a tournament."
There were participants from Graceland University (Graceland), North Central Missouri College (North Central), William Penn University (William Penn), Southeastern Community College (Southeastern), and Southwestern Community College (Southwestern).
William Penn won the team title, shooting a 363. Molly Carey, from Graceland University, got the solo victory by five strokes in shooting a +8, 80.
