Hernandez Gains Omaha Recruit for Spartan Baseball

Omaha's EJ Johnson, a six-foot shortstop, center fielder, and pitcher, has committed to playing for Southwestern Community College's baseball program beginning with the fall 2016 semester.

Johnson, a 2016 graduate of Harry A. Burke High School in Omaha, was an all-state honorable mention selection for baseball. In spring 2016, he was asked to play in the 44th Annual Collin-Orcutt All-Star Baseball Game and was a member of Omaha's Strike Zone Elite baseball team.

During the 2016 season, in 119 at-bats, Johnson had a .404 batting average with 32 singles, 12 doubles, three triples, and a home run. He also drove in 34 runs, had 21 stolen bases, and scored 21 times. His high school team finished the season with a record of 21-12.

In addition to baseball, Johnson was a member of his high school's basketball team.
