Three Spartans Earn First Team All-Region, Six Recognized with Postseason Baseball Honors

Creston, IA — The 2025 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Baseball postseason awards have been announced, and six members of the Southwestern Community College Spartans were honored for their performances during the season. Among them, three earned First Team All-Region accolades, showcasing the individual strengths present throughout the Spartan roster this spring.

Freshmen Alexander Arroyo, Jacob Angell, and Daniel Cepeda were each named to the 2025 ICCAC First Team All-Region, highlighting a strong core of young players who contributed significantly to Southwestern's competitiveness this season.

Arroyo, an infielder from Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, played in all 50 games and posted a .323 batting average, with 40 RBIs, 38 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases. His consistency at the plate and defensive reliability helped anchor the middle infield for the Spartans. Arroyo also led the team in on-base percentage at .435, a testament to his disciplined approach.

Angell, a sophomore outfielder from Montreal, Canada, led the Spartans with a .331 batting average over 44 games. He drove in 28 runs, hit 3 home runs, and added 5 stolen bases. In conference play, Angell was even more productive, batting .343 and recording a .480 slugging percentage.

Cepeda, a first baseman from Miami, Florida, rounded out the First Team selections after hitting .344 with 4 home runs, 32 RBIs, and 11 doubles in 40 games. His .984 fielding percentage and 171 putouts also reflect his steady play on the defensive end.

Two additional Spartans earned Second Team All-Region honors:

  • Jackson McDanel, an infield player who contributed both at the plate and in the field throughout the season.

  • Anibal Montanez, a key presence in the lineup for Southwestern.

Rounding out the group, Wyatt Throckmorton received Honorable Mention All-Region recognition, adding to the Spartans' list of postseason accolades.

Despite a season that included its share of setbacks in conference play, these individual honors reflect the talent and resilience within the program. With several key contributors returning and a foundation of award-winning talent in place, the future remains promising for Spartan Baseball heading into 2026.
