Former Spartan baseball standout Carlos Gabriel Muniz Garcia (Charlie Muniz, University of the Cumberlands) of Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, was recently honored as the 2025 Lou Brock Player of the Year for the second straight season.
Muniz attended Southwestern from fall 2019 to spring 2021 (Charlie Muniz, SWCC bio page). He was coached by Jordan Camp and Chris Piperno.
This year, Muniz led the nation with 36 home runs and 96 RBIs, ending his collegiate career at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. He leaves the NAIA as the all-time leader in hits, home runs, and RBIs, and blasted the college baseball record 115 career home runs.
