Spartans Defeat NCMC on Road

Less than a week after defeating North Central Missouri College (NCMC) at home by a score of 112-80 the Spartans went to NCMC and picked up a 97-85 victory.  KeShawn Wilson led the way on the offensive end with 31 points including six of 10 from behind the arc.

"KeShawn can really shoot the basketball and our guys did a great job of finding him when he got it going," said Coach Todd Lorensen.

Southwestern built a 48-32 halftime advantage and fended off a few runs by NCMC but never led by less than eight points.  Brodric Thomas added 16 points, including two highlight-worthy dunks, and Jordan Johnson pitched in 10 points and a team-high eight assists.  Khallid Edwards scored 10 points in extended minutes while Calvin Chambers battled foul trouble.

"We have great depth and multiple guys who can score on a given night," said Lorensen. "It's a great luxury to have as a team.  Add in our guys' unselfish play and it can be really fun to watch."

Lavon Hightower came off the bench to score eight points on four shots and a team-high seven rebounds.

The Spartans play again this Friday against Southeast (NE) Community College at the Central (NE) Community College Classic.  It will the second and third straight games that are part of an 11 game road swing for Southwestern.

"I could have done a better job of scheduling but we have a veteran group who will only be better in the second semester from these road games," stated Lorensen.
