Volleyball Announces Roster and Season Preview

After two-plus weeks of two-a-day (or more) practice, intrasquad scrimmages, and external scrimmages, the Spartan volleyball team is ready to kick their regular season off. The Spartans will head to Columbus, NE to compete in the "Ramada Kickoff Classic" hosted by Central Community College. The first game will be against the host school, Central Community College, at 3:00 PM and game two will be against Dakota College at Bottineau at 5:00 PM. You can find live stats and video for both events on the Southwestern Volleyball Schedule. On Saturday, the Spartans will take on Cowley County at 9:00 AM and College of St. Mary at 1:00 PM. 

The Spartans will open up at home on Wednesday, September 1st against Hawkeye Community College, which will also be the first game of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) schedule.

 

Coach Camp has her eyes on three regular-season games as "Games to Watch":

September 11th at home against Highland Community College. Highland finished last season ranked in the top-15 in the nation.

September 29th at home against Iowa Central Community College. Iowa Central finished their season third in the National Tournament.

October 2nd at the DMACC campus against North Dakota State College of Science. They finished last season also ranked in the top-15 in the nation.

 

Coach Camp highlights two Sophomores and two Freshmen as "Players to Watch":

Sophomore from DeKalb, Illinois, Florence Omodayo. She earned ICCAC Player of the Week honors as a freshman last season and also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Sophomore from Creston, Iowa, Emma Hanson. The Middle Hitter looks to assert her presence in conference play this year after a summer of development and growth.

Freshman from Lenox, Iowa, Jordan England. The Middle Blocker had a solid high school campaign and was a four-time letter winner in volleyball, three-year academic all-conference selection, second team all-conference nominee, and earned a spot on the IGHSAU Academic Achievement Team three times.

Freshman from Lamar, Missouri, Parker Evans. The Libero also had a decorated high school career receiving  first-team all-conference and second-team all-district awards in volleyball, in addition to receiving honorable mention all-conference.

 

The Spartans kick-off their season this Friday, August 20th at the Central Kickoff Classic in Columbus, Nebraska. Tune in HERE. The Spartans will be at home on Wednesday, September 1 in the first of a grueling  Iowa Community College Athletic Conference schedule.
