Spartans Poised for Day Two Rise

Day one is in the books. The Southwestern golf team traveled to Lawrence, Kansas for the first tournament of the 2021 season. Day one brought warm, but blustery conditions for the first competition of the year.

Leading the way for the Spartans is freshman, Ryan Jarvis, firing an 81 on the day. Jarvis' first tournament was highlighted with his short game, having just eleven putts on the front nine and sub-30 putts on the day. The freshman currently sits in a tie for 10th place.

Coming in right behind Jarvis were freshman, Thomas Esterhuyse, and sophomore, Lachlan Timms. Both individuals shot an 83 and sit in a six-way tie for 14th. Rounding out the team scoring was freshman, Ethan Brumbaugh who fired an 85 and sits in 20th place.

Rounding out the other scores for the Spartans are: sophomore Harrison Galea (87, T-29), Brock Kyner (90, T-37), Zayne Osborn (95, T-43), and Hayden Green (103, 49). The 49-person field has Southwestern sitting in fourth-place of the eight competing teams.

The Spartans will finish the Ottawa Spring Invitational on Tuesday with the same pairings and same tee times.
