Southwestern Spartans Women's Basketball Secures Victory in Tribute Game

Creston, IA –

In a poignant match against Grand View University JV, the Southwestern Spartans Women's Basketball team emerged triumphant with a final score of 74-58. The victory was not only a testament to their athletic prowess but also a heartfelt dedication to the late Maddie Stewart, whose jersey number was retired in a touching ceremony before the game.

Key Performers:

Coach Darien Wingate expressed his pride in the team's performance, stating, "I am just so proud of the way our girls competed. Going into tonight, we knew how important it was to get this W on our night dedicated to Maddie. While it was a very emotional one, our girls found a way to get it done despite being down in numbers for the night. Our girls continue to show growth as we progress. We still have a lot of work to do, but I can't be more proud of the basketball team that we are becoming."

Looking ahead, the Spartans are set to face Northeast at home on Wednesday, aiming to secure a 3-1 record in conference play and maintain a top-three seed in the conference as they approach the break.
