Moore Sparking Spartans to Strong Start & ICCAC Athlete of the Week

CRESTON, Iowa - The Southwestern Community College women's basketball team is off to a solid 3-2 start in conference play thanks in large part to the strong play of freshman guard Shyla Moore.

Over her last four games, Moore is averaging 16.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest. That stretch includes a career-high 26 points in a narrow 75-70 loss to Northeast on December 16. Moore also recorded a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds in Southwestern's 80-73 conference win over Ellsworth on December 20.

For the season, Moore ranks second on the team in both scoring (11.5 ppg) and rebounding (6.2 rpg). She has reached double figures in scoring in four straight games and six times overall this year. Moore's solid all-around play has helped the Spartans get out to a 10-3 overall record.

Southwestern returns from the holiday break to host Southeastern in an ICCAC matchup on January 3.
