Chris Piperno became head coach of Spartan baseball in June 2022. He came to Creston from Delray Beach, Florida, where he was assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator for Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, since 2015. In addition, he coached the Boca Raton Blazers in the South Florida Collegiate League from 2017-22. The Blazers were the 2021 South Florida Collegiate League champions.

At Lynn University, Piperno coached 10 all-conference, 11 all-region, three all-Americans, and three Sunshine State Conference Players of the Year. Seventeen of his players have gone on to sign professional contracts, with four of them being drafted in the Major League Baseball draft.

Piperno earned a Master of Business Administration from Lynn University in May 2021 and a Bachelor of Arts in American studies with a minor in elementary education in May 2013. He is a graduate of General Douglas MacArthur High School in Levittown, New York.
